FabriTec Designs New Tensile Membrane Sculpture At Salt Lake City Airport

Planned Tensile Membrane Sculpture at Salt Lake City AirportArriving in 2020, a new three-story terminal and concourse will replace a total of 29 outdated structures, including three separate terminals and five concourses in the Salt Lake City Airport. The project’s architects at HOK collaborated with the internationally recognized, Gordon Huether + Partners, to create the one-of-a-kind large-scale fabric sculpture wowing travelers on the terminals’ main concourse which is expected to increase to 23 million by 2034.

In order in ensure a good life span, there will be about 15 extra gates already stretched up. Upon the new concourse’s completion, officials will have to decide whether to add them or continue with its construction at a later date.
