Valley Metro Rail line PTFE Structure FabriTec
FabriTec Structures, LLC, North America’s leading design/build contractor specializing in tension fabric structures, has completed installation of 44 identical shaped PTFE tensile membrane fabric panels applied at four station locations along the Valley Metro Rail line in Mesa, AZ. Work on the metro line was completed in April of 2015.

The Central Mesa LRT Extension project extends Mesa area light rail service 3.1 miles starting at Main Street from Sycamore to Mesa Drive and includes four station locations and a park-and-ride facility. The line’s extension will be fully operational by late 2015.

FabriTec Structures won the bid to design/build the tensile membrane structures in partnership with Valley Transit Constructors, a Kiewit / Mass. Joint Venture. In addition to the architectural fabric paneling,  FabriTec Structures’ scope of work included the Design and Engineering of the curved steel arms, saddles, and steel clamping including the fabrication of all the structures’ edge cables, and fabric panels.

The four rail station rest stop canopies together have a total fabric surface area of approximately 5,060 square feet.

These fabric canopies decorating the Central Mesa line extension will match, in appearance, the existing structures at other station stops on the Central Mesa line.

FabriTec Structures has decades of experience in designing and building transit station stops and centers, winning critical acclaim and awards for such tensile membrane designs as the MGM Transit Center at CityCenter, Las Vegas, NV; RTC Centennial Plaza Transit Center, Reno, NV and Rosa Parks Transit Center in Detroit, MI.
