PFEIFER’s cable structures have developed from revolutionary engineering ideas pioneered by innovators like Vladimir Shukov, Frei Otto, Ove Arup, or Ted Happold and continue on the quest of delivering the creative designs with a minimum use of materials and a maximum of exciting 3D forms. These complex engineering principles, including a balance between tension and compression, a verity of shapes like hyperbolic paraboloids, anticlastic and synclastic curvature, warped conoids, and structural concepts like tensegrity solutions, are the fundamentals that allow us to craft our extraordinary lightweight structures. Combined with advanced lightweight ETFE, PTFE, and PVC membranes, our structures require minimal structural support, which allows us to create amazing structures previously unimagined.
