After successfully securing a contract with the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) to provide tensile membrane cladding for four digesters at the site of Oceanside Pollution Control Plant 620, construction by FabriTec Structures is now completed.
San Francisco’s Ocean Digesters are an integral part of the wastewater management system responsible for solids treatment. Erosion of the tanks, from exposure to the rising sea levels and salty ocean air, is constantly monitored by the department. The durable exterior PTFE membrane structures commissioned by SFPUC are protecting the digesters from further erosion and make an attractive public-facing shell.
PFEIFER has clad four digester tanks. Each tank has an approximate surface area of 5,000 square feet and each fin an additional 2,500 square feet for a total fabric surface area of a little more than 30,000 square feet. The fabric used was Sheerfill II PTFE.
